In Love Again!
Yep, I'm in love again! It feels a bit like those Junior High crushes, but cleaner and solid. It is exciting. It's on my mind quite a bit. There is a real longing to be with this person. This little person- my granddaughter.
I spent the last two days babysitting her with my wife. And yesterday because of Nona's haircut, I had her all by myself from 10:30 until noon. It went great. She didn't even seem to notice it was just me. We put the little people inside the airplane and looked quite a while for the "Mommy". We got on the white board and made red and purple squiggles and pretended we were writing various people's names. We made tuna fish salad and she wanted to help mash the boiled egg and mix all the stuff with a fork. We played sword with a broom handle, then hide and seek for a while. I asked her if she would like to go to Wal-Mart and get some new pens, she said, "Stay here", which was just fine with me.
It was play, plain and simple. With a person with whom I have an amazing kinship, amazing bond, amazing love. And it seems to go both ways. She came to hug me TWICE when she and her Mother left through the door to the garage.
I've always like the saying, "Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am."
That's kinda how I feel about my relationship with my granddaughter. Lord, let me be the person she thinks I am.
What a surprise. Life is full of surprises. Some good and some not-so-good. This is one of the best.
What a gift. It is one of the finest gifts I think God could give someone my age. A granddaughter.
I hope when she get's old enough to read they will still have computers and blogs and she can read this.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
